We were recently brought in to assess whether a floating pontoon could safely accommodate 80 occupants—a key requirement for the client’s intended use.

With limited design documentation available, we applied engineering judgment and site-based observations to carry out a detailed buoyancy and stability analysis. We estimated flotation capacity based on observed materials and construction, modelled load distribution and freeboard under full occupancy and benchmarked performance against The Yacht Harbour Assocation safety standards.

Our analysis also revealed that, with minor adjustments—such as removing or redistributing deck furniture—the pontoon could potentially support up to 100 people while remaining within safe limits.
